Details & Inspection Notes

Lincoln's Flextec 500X (model K3607-1) is a 500A, three-phase pulsed MIG power source built to run in hot shop environments, rated to withstand ambient temperatures up to 131 degrees Fahrenheit, and designed around CrossLinc technology for changing weld parameters at the wire feeder instead of walking back to the machine.

What it does

This unit covers Stick, Flux-Cored, MIG, Pulsed MIG, TIG, and arc gouging with carbons up to 3/8 inch. Pulsed MIG adds weld modes tuned for carbon, stainless, and aluminum metal-core electrodes, and pairing it with an ArcLink feeder unlocks multiple synergic pulse modes where the operator just picks a mode and wire speed. CrossLinc itself works with standard feeders, but full remote-parameter benefits only show up when two CrossLinc-capable devices are paired together.

Setup and power

Input power runs 380-600V on three-phase service, and the machine holds a 60% duty cycle at the full 500A, stepping up to 100% at 450A. At 120 lbs and roughly 19 by 14 by 27 inches, it's built as a power source only; this listing does not include a power cord. A voltage-reduction device also lowers open-circuit voltage for added safety when it's idle between passes.

Common questions

Does it include a power cord? No, the Flextec 500X power source ships without one. Can it gouge as well as weld? Yes, it's rated for arc gouging with carbons up to 3/8 inch. This machine carries a California Proposition 65 label, as is typical for welding equipment.

Welding Equipment Setup & Pre-Operation Checklist

  • Verify workshop mains voltage, circuit breaker rating, and phase match the welding machine specifications.
  • Inspect ground clamp cable, torch lead, and work cables for tight, clean, low-resistance connections.
  • Secure shielding gas cylinders upright with safety chains; inspect regulator and hose connections for gas leaks.
  • Confirm correct wire diameter, drive roll groove profile, and contact tip size match the spool installed.
