Details & Inspection Notes
Boats that outgrow a small portable gas motor are the target for the Cruise 6.0 RL TorqLink, Torqeedo's 48-volt outboard comparable to a 9.9 hp petrol motor, rated for dinghies and sailboats up to 6 tons. A 30-inch shaft reaches the deeper transoms this motor is meant for, and it weighs 46 lbs bare, with its matched lithium pack adding about 80 lbs more.
Why it holds up
Torqeedo seals this motor to IP67 and builds the drivetrain to shrug off saltwater corrosion through the kind of repeated, hard commercial-style duty cycle that would wear down a lesser outboard, grounding included.
How the electronics work
TorqLink ties the motor to its battery and display, which is where the live read-out of charge level, drawn power, and remaining range comes from rather than a rough estimate. A TorqLink cable set and the matched Power 48-5000 pack round out a standard setup, along with a main switch and a B 12.5 x 17 HSP propeller; swapping in a third-party 48-volt battery works too, provided the output is matched and an extra cable set gets added. None of the throttle, battery, or charger ships with the bare motor.
Buying it
This is new stock, backed for 2 years under Torqeedo's non-commercial terms.
What boats is this sized for? Dinghies and sailboats up to 6 tons.
Can I use a different battery brand? Yes, provided the voltage is matched and the extra cable set is added.
