Details & Inspection Notes
Taller transoms and deeper-draft hulls are the reason the Cruise 12.0 RXL TorqLink exists: it's the 25-inch extra-long-shaft edition of Torqeedo's 48-volt, 25 horsepower-equivalent electric outboard, rated for boats up to 10 tons. A short-shaft motor would leave the propeller running too close to the surface on these hulls, so the longer leg keeps it properly submerged. The motor on its own weighs 138 lbs.
How it's configured
Remote steering and an electric starter handle operation, and the TorqLink link between motor, battery, and display is what feeds the onboard readout its figures for speed, battery charge level, drawn power, and how much range is left. Two Power 48-5000 lithium packs, roughly 160 lbs together, are Torqeedo's matched battery for this motor; lead-acid cells will run it as well, just without that live capacity readout on the display.
What ships with the motor
In the box: the TorqLink cable set plus a separate 3-meter TorqLink cable, a main switch, the matched propeller, a tilt switch, and the wiring needed for remote steering. The throttle, batteries, and charger are each bought separately from the motor itself, as with every Cruise Remote model.
Buying it
It ships new and Torqeedo covers non-commercial use for 2 years.
What's the difference between this and the standard-shaft Cruise 12.0? Mainly the shaft length and the motor's dry weight; the X-Long build suits deeper transom mounting.
Does it include a battery? No, that's a separate purchase, matched to the Power 48-5000 lithium pack.
