2018 Tohatsu 15 Hp MFS15EEFL Outboard Motor

The 2018 Tohatsu MFS15EEFL updates the 15 HP four-stroke line with electronic fuel injection, keeping the 20-inch long shaft and tiller steering while adding electric start with a manual pull-cord backup.

EFI over carburetor

Switching from a carburetor to electronic fuel injection on this EEFL version is meant to make cold starts and idle quality more consistent than the carbureted DEFL and DL models in the same shaft length. A 12V-12A alternator covers the charging side of the electric starter, and the manual backup means a dead battery does not leave the boat without a way to start the motor.

Engine and fit

Displacement is 333cc running a 2.15 gear ratio through a three-blade aluminum propeller, saltwater rated like the rest of the 15 HP range. Boats with a lower transom should look at the short-shaft version of this same EFI engine instead, since the 20-inch shaft here is sized for taller transoms.
