Details & Inspection Notes

The 2018 Suzuki DF9.9BTX EFI shares the High Thrust design of Suzuki's 9.9 HP four-stroke line but is built around a longer shaft, with a 25-inch transom height recommendation for boats set up with a taller stern.

High thrust for low-speed power

A one-piece forged crankshaft and forged aluminum connecting rod sit behind a 2.08:1 gear ratio and a high-thrust propeller, giving pulling power for trolling heavier fishing boats rather than speed on top. The large hub trims cavitation in reverse, useful when a hooked fish forces extended backing down. Tiller steering, battery-less EFI, digital CDI, and a low oil pressure warning system are standard, and the electric starter runs off a 12V 12A alternator.

Sizing it to the boat

At 125 lbs with the electric starter fitted, this is the heavier of Suzuki's two DF9.9 High Thrust builds, a difference worth weighing against the transom it will mount to. Fresh water flushing and Suzuki's anti-corrosion system are built in for routine maintenance.

What's included

In the box: fuel tank and line at 3.1 gallons, the aluminum propeller, tool kit, owner's manual, and Suzuki's three-year warranty term.

Common questions

How is this different from the 20-inch High Thrust model? Mainly shaft length and the transom height it is built for; the drivetrain and features match. Is it tiller or remote steering? Tiller, as with the rest of the High Thrust line.
