Details & Inspection Notes
The DF30A EFI shares its 3-cylinder, 489 cc block with other engines in Suzuki's mid-size lineup but is tuned to 30 hp, and comes standard with electric start and power trim and tilt. Two rigging options ship under this listing: a tiller setup at 163 pounds, or a remote-steered setup at 158.
Before you order
Specify tiller or remote steering, since the two options carry different control hardware and different weights, and keep in mind that the recommended transom mounting height is 20 inches either way.
Inside the engine
A 14-amp, 12-volt alternator supports this engine as it climbs to a recommended 5300-6300 rpm, a tune pitched higher than the smaller-output motors built on the same block. The propeller measures 9.25 inches across with a 10-inch pitch, and power trim and tilt are fitted as standard rather than optional equipment here.
Suzuki includes a 3.1-gallon tank, matching fuel line, a manual, propeller and tool kit, with three years of coverage.
Can I order this with either steering type? Yes, this listing covers both the tiller and remote-steered rigging.
Is this engine related to the smaller motors in Suzuki's lineup? It shares the same basic block, just tuned for more output at this displacement.
Because both rigging options share the same engine and output, the choice between tiller and remote steering really comes down to how your boat is already set up at the helm, not to any difference in power delivery.
