Details & Inspection Notes
Suzuki's DF20AL EFI carries the same battery-less EFI four-stroke platform up to 20 hp, stays tiller-steered and electric-start only, and tips the scale at 108 pounds. Jon boats and skiffs that want a bit more push without jumping up to a 3-cylinder engine are the usual fit for this trim.
Before you order
This trim is built for a 20-inch transom and ships electric-start only, with no pull-rope backup, so confirm both of those fit your boat and your preference before placing an order. There is no lighter, manual-start version of this particular configuration to fall back on if you decide later you wanted one.
Inside the engine
Output climbs to a recommended 5300-6300 rpm, while Suzuki's lean-burn system keeps fuel delivery efficient across that range without a carburetor involved anywhere. A 10-inch-pitch, 9.25-inch propeller handles the push, and an onboard alternator keeps a 12-volt system topped off once you are underway.
Suzuki ships this one with its 3.1-gallon tank and line, a manual, a spare aluminum prop and a tool kit, plus three years of warranty coverage.
Can this trim be ordered with a pull-rope backup? No, this configuration is electric-start only.
Does it need a battery to keep running once started? The charging alternator tops up a 12-volt system while the engine runs, so plan on having a battery connected for electric starting.
